Buzzzz.......

It's that time of year again. Today was the Circleville Elementary Spelling Bee. All the kids from grades 3rd through 6th are invited to participate. (Well, Jason told me that the 6th graders weren't exactly "invited" - they were "told" to participate :) He loves this so he would've done it anyway!) Two years ago, Jason took 3rd Place; last year, he took 2nd Place and he really wanted to get 1st Place this year. Emily knew it would be difficult, but she just really wanted to beat him during her 1st year of participating.

The last few days, we have really been studying the words. Jason only studied for about 3 hours a day for 2 days. Emily studied from 3 pm - 8 pm for 3 days. (Jason didn't think there was any way he would lose until I asked him to spell a word and he spelled it wrong and then Emily turned around and spelled it right! MAJOR WAKE-UP CALL!)

Well, I am proud to say that both kids did great! Jason took 1st Place! He won a trophy, certificate, and $50. Emily tied for 5th place! When she got home, we had a little certificate for her and she was thrilled with that! There were 59 kids who took part and they each deserve credit for getting up there and trying to spell their words.

Congratulations Jason & Emily! We love you!

He just finished spelling his final word to win the Spelling Bee ("articulate").

My 2 GREAT spellers!
